How To Fix Windows 8 VirtualBox Upload Speed Problem On iMac

internet-speed-testI’ve installed Windows 7/8 in my iMac with VirtualBox. The reason I installed it is to use those applications who do not compatible in Mac. Windows Live Writer is one of the main reason I keep Windows in my iMac. Frankly speaking, Windows Live Writer is the best writer I have ever used so far, none of the Mac OS blog tool can compare with it. However, I faced upload problem when I started to upload some of my posts to my blog with Windows 7/8 virtual box. The upload speed is slow and caught me in trouble. I have difficulty to upload my posts. Finally, problem is solved today with just simple tricks. Let’s check it out.

To make sure that it was not my blog problem, I have tested to upload some posts with other PC. It works seamlessly. I concluded the problem was only with my Windows 7/8 in Virtual Box on iMac.

Finally, I found the problem was caused by the network adaptor setting which pre-default by VirtualBox.  It is simple enough to fix the problem if you know the root cause.

Firstly, this is the default setting. To get the setting, seletect VirtualBox windows and go to the top Menubar.

Goto Devices –> Network Adapters. Below is the default network adaptor setting – NAT.
